Faith on the Fast Track HIV Campaign

The Faith on the Fast Track HIV Campaign aims to accelerate and intensify actions by faith communities for a world without new HIV infections; zero stigma and discrimination; zero AIDS-related deaths; and where the human rights and dignity of all are upheld.

The more we can speak and act together, the stronger our impact for justice will be.

On our Pilgrimage for Justice and Peace in a world with HIV, the World Council of Churches – Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance recognizes that HIV is a justice issue and acknowledges the general and particular vulnerabilities of all God’s children.

Compelled by the Gospel, we celebrate the equal, inherent dignity and value of every human being. We affirm the potential and reach of equipped faith communities to bring about change.

The WCC Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance recognizes that HIV is a justice issue and it acknowledges the inherent value of each person.

In order to achieve the Biblical vision of abundant life for all, we commit to equip, mobilize, and support faith communities in the “Faith on the Fast Track” Campaign to contribute to:

Goal 1: HIV is maintained as a global focus

Goal 2: Universal access to prevention, testing, treatment, care and support

Goal 3: Stigma and discrimination are eliminated and human dignity and rights are upheld

Goal 4: Root causes of vulnerability to HIV transmission are eliminated

Goal 1: HIV is maintained as a global focus

Vision: There continues to be a global coordinated effort to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.

The WCC Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance and its participating organizations and partners advocate that governments, churches, multilateral organizations and private industry deliver upon the commitments they have made in the response to HIV and AIDS, including mobilizing the resources necessary to implement these commitments.

Goal 2: Universal access to prevention, testing, treatment, care and support

Vision: There are zero AIDS-related deaths because every adult and child who needs treatment receives the best treatment for life, and every child is born free from HIV.

The WCC Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance and its participating organizations and partners advocate for universal access to comprehensive interventions for HIV prevention, testing, treatment, care and support.

Goal 3: Stigma and discrimination are eliminated and human dignity and rights are upheld.

Vision: There is zero discrimination because stigma is eliminated and human rights and dignity of all are upheld.

The WCC Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance and its participating organizations and partners advocate with and for people living with and affected by HIV, and key population groups, for human dignity rights and for an attitude of care, inclusion and solidarity that eliminates all forms of stigmatization and discrimination.

Goal 4: Root causes of vulnerability to HIV transmission are eliminated

Vision: There continues to be a coordinated effort to address the root causes of vulnerability to HIV.

The WCC Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance and its participating organizations and partners uphold the value, life and dignity of all persons and call for actions that address the root causes of vulnerability to HIV infection and the impacts caused by this pandemic.

Invitation to be involved in the WCC-EAA HIV Campaign

The World Council of Churches - Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance is deeply committed to overcoming HIV, and eliminating AIDS as a public health threat, but it can only make a significant impact through the involvement and commitment of its participating organisations. Therefore, the WCC-EAA now shares a number of opportunities for volunteers to contribute to these goals.
