WCC welcomes array of visitors during Advent season

The World Council of Churches (WCC) welcomed an array of visitors during Advent season, including delegations from the Presbyterian Church (USA), World Communion of Reformed Churches, Nordic churches, and the Conference of European Churches.

Pilgrimage to knowledge: visit to Egypt builds bridges

During a recent visit to Egypt with the aim of exploring both its interreligious and intercultural history, Prof. Angeliki Ziaka, World Council of Churches programme executive for Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation, said that her visit to Cairo served as a gateway to deeper exploration of the city's rich heritage and the search for lasting bridges, enriched by Egypt's unique cultural and spiritual richness.

Evangelical Mission in Solidarity on journey together with WCC

On 14 November, Rev. Anne Heitmann was elected chair of the Presidium of Evangelical Mission in Solidarity (EMS). She is also head of the Ecumenism and Church Worldwide department of the Protestant Church in Baden. She shared her past experiences as a World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee member, and how she envisions EMS continuing to journey with the World Council of Churches. 

In Fiji, churches help people cope with rising sea levels

Rev. Dr Semisi Turagavou, president of the Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma, attended the recent World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee meeting. He reflected on the unique needs in Fiji, as well as other Pacific islands, and spoke of the inspiration he drew from meeting with the WCC governing body.

Medical staff share realities from the field in Gaza

The war in Gaza continues, with the number of lives lost growing by the day and with an immanent risk of further escalation of war and conflict across the region. On 7 August, a delegation from the World Council of Churches (WCC) accompanied by partners from the Middle East Council of Churches, ACT Alliance, and Caritas Internationalis, heard the witness of some of those for whom this war has become a daily reality.
