On 14 October, the leadership of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy visited the World Council of Churches (WCC) headquarters while attending the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Geneva, being held 13-17 October. 

The Ecumenical Diakonia Reference Group, established by the World Council of Churches (WCC), held its inaugural meeting in Yerevan, Armenia, from 30 September to 2 October. The group, cochaired by Rev. Pauliina Parhiala (Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission) and Rebecca Teiko Sabah (Presbyterian Church of Ghana), focused on topics such as climate justice, decolonization, and diaconal collaboration. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC), along with global faith organizations, raised urgent awareness of the growing hunger crisis through the "Weekend of Prayer and Action Against Hunger." Inspired by Isaiah 58—"to loose the chains of injustice, untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free...and share our food with the hungry"—this global movement called on faith communities to take spiritual and practical steps to help end hunger.

On 16 October, during World Food Day, the World Council of Churches (WCC) will host an international webinar to address the worsening global food crisis. Since 1980, the annual Right Livelihood award has highlighted individuals and organizations whose work promotes justice, peace, and sustainability for all, but might otherwise not receive the recognition they deserve. On 3 October, Right Livelihood announced four new laureates, continuing this tradition.

On 4 October, the World Council of Churches (WCC) will join global faith leaders and youth in a prayer service to close the Season of Creation. Themed “To Hope and Act with Creation,” with a focus on the Fossil Fuel Phase-Out Initiative, this youth-led event calls on faith communities to unite in prayer and action to address the climate crisis.

The fate of Armenian detainees in Azerbaijan was focus of the side event at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on 1 October, featuring leading advocates and human rights lawyers representing the detainees.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Diakonia Reference Group event began on 30 September in Yerevan, Armenia, focusing on transformative action to address some of the world’s most pressing issues. Opening the gathering, Rev. Dr Kenneth Mtata, WCC programme director for Public Witness and Diakonia, urged churches to tackle the systemic roots of global challenges, such as climate change, violent conflict, and inequality.
