Drei Kommissionen des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen – die Kommission der Kirchen für internationale Angelegenheiten, die Kommission für Gesundheit und Heilen und die Kommission für Klimagerechtigkeit und nachhaltige Entwicklung – beendeten ihre Tagung am 8. März in Genf mit der gemeinsamen Entschlossenheit, die Herausforderungen der Welt hoffnungsvoll und praktisch anzugehen.

From 4 to 9 December 2023, thousands of people convened in Harare, Zimbabwe, for the 22nd International Conference on Aids and STIs in Africa (ICASA). Scientists, medical experts, advocates, people living with HIV, and civil society organizations came together under the theme “AIDS IS NOT OVER: Address inequalities; accelerate inclusion and innovation.” Participants from many faith traditions were a meaningful part of many of these representative groups but also took up a space of their own.

The World Council of Churches (WCC), with the support of UNAIDS, hosted a webinar on World AIDS Day, 1 December, that launched two new tools aimed at invigorating HIV response by the faith sector.

As she spoke during a World AIDS Day event hosted by the World Health Organization and UNAIDS, Gracia Violeta Ross, programme executive for WCC Ecumenical HIV and AIDS Initiatives and Advocacy, called for honesty, equality, and inclusivity. 

A prayer and reflection on World AIDS Day, observed each year on 1 December, focused on the theme “Let Communities Lead!”
