Courage to work together

Courage is what is needed from us at this point in time. This is one of the thoughts that stuck with me from the 2025 Working Together meeting of WCC. It was my second time attending and once again an enriching space of not only sharing information but building relationships, joint learning, and encouragement.

WCC executive committee to convene with vision for future

The World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee will convene 12-16 May via video conference to conduct the regular business of the first half of the year. The executive committee will also review preparations for the WCC central committee meeting, which will convene 18-24 June in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Leaders of specialized ministries that collaborate with the World Council of Chruches (WCC) gathered online on 7 May with the WCC general secretary and members of his staff. The bi-annual meeting is an important step in shaping the vision and priorities of the WCC.

Faith-based organizations challenge "Wall Street climate consensus" at UN forum

The World Council of Churches (WCC) and partner faith-based organizations convened on 29 April for a the side event entitled “A holistic, transformative approach to climate finance: Connecting the dots between climate finance, debt and tax reform” during the United Nations Economic and Social Council Financing for Development Forum. The event highlighted the interconnections between climate action, debt relief, and tax justice as essential components of climate finance mobilization.

Navigating crisis with courage: adaptive change and ethical resolve

Participants of the annual meeting between the World Council of Churches (WCC) and church-related agencies working in humanitarian aid, development, and international advocacy spent time on 29 April reflecting that geopolitical priorities are shifting, with many governments divesting in development to invest in defense—or at least moving money from aid to military.

Executive Committee meeting

The 25-person Executive Committee is the WCC governing body, with members from churches in every region. It meets twice a year to monitor ongoing work, supervise the budget and deal with policy matters referred to it by the Central Committee.

Faith leaders call for urgent economic transformation to combat inequality and climate crisis

Faith leaders warn that the global concentration of wealth and power has reached "unprecedented" and "alarming" levels, exacerbating inequality, undermining democracy, and accelerating climate catastrophe. The ecumenical call to action came in a joint communique issued today following a three-day meeting in Geneva of the Ecumenical Panel on a New International Financial and Economic Architecture (NIFEA).
