African interfaith leaders convening in Kigali, Rwanda issued a statement on 19 July calling for forgiving debts, implementing responsible lending and borrowing principles, mainstreaming risk sharing between creditors and debtors, and scaling up access to resources for development in affordable terms.

El 3 de julio, un evento en línea titulado “Salvar la vida de niños y niñas: banca responsable con el clima”, llamó la atención sobre el peligro que entrañan las inversiones en nuevos proyectos de extracción y explotación de combustibles fósiles para el bienestar de la infancia, los jóvenes y las generaciones futuras, y alentó a la adopción de medidas para exigir responsabilidades a quienes siguen haciendo ese tipo de inversiones.

Le 3 juillet, lors d’un événement en ligne intitulé «Sauvez la vie des enfants: des services bancaires plus responsables pour le climat», il a été expliqué qu’investir dans de nouveaux projets d’expansion des combustibles fossiles menace le bien-être des enfants, des jeunes et des générations à venir. L’objectif était également d’encourager à agir pour demander des comptes à celles et ceux qui investissent dans les combustibles fossiles.

An online event entitled “Save Children’s Lives: Climate-Responsible Banking” on 3 July highlighted how investments in new fossil fuel expansion imperil the wellbeing of children, youth, and future generations, inspiring action to hold accountable those investing in fossil fuels.

The World Council of Churches (WCC), as part of the Geneva Interfaith Forum on Climate Change, Environment, and Human Rights, co-hosted a side event at the 56th Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland. The event, titled "A Human Rights and Ethical Perspective on Noneconomic Loss and Damage in the Context of Climate Change," emphasized how non-economic losses—such as the loss of life, health, cultural heritage, and flora and fauna—pose serious threats to the enjoyment of human rights and social wellbeing, and demand remedial action.

As Kenyan youth anti-tax hike protests persisted, church leaders were suggesting measures to calm the country, amidst fears of further chaos in the near future.

World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay expressed alarm at the reports and images indicating a disproportionately violent response by Kenyan police and security personnel to widespread popular protests about proposed tax increases. 

A webinar entitled “Climate-Responsible Banking: A Moral Imperative towards Children“ on 3 July will increase awareness of how investments into new fossil fuel expansion imperil the wellbeing of children, youth, and future generations, to advance actions of faith-based actors and hold accountable those investing in fossil fuels.

Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay, secretario general del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), en un mensaje dirigido al Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director general de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), con motivo de la 77.ª Asamblea Mundial de la Salud que se celebra estos días en Ginebra.

Al comenzar el encuentro “Trabajar juntos”, el 24 de abril, el secretario general del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), el Rev. Le 24 avril, lors de l’ouverture de l’événement «Œuvrer ensemble», le secrétaire général du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE), le pasteur Jerry Pillay, a dit aux partenaires du COE toute sa reconnaissance pour leur soutien en vue de définir et d’orienter les programmes, d’instaurer la paix et de propager la vérité en prophètes.

As the “Working Together” gathering opened on 24 April, World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay expressed deep appreciation for WCC partners whose support has helped define and direct programs, peace-building, and prophetic truth-telling.
