Global institute convenes leaders in Kenya to reimagine a just economy

From 19-30 August, 27 church and youth leaders from 23 countries gathered in Limuru, Kenya, for the 7th edition of the Ecumenical School on Governance, Economics, and Management for an Economy of Life (GEM School). The participants included church leaders, pastors, theological students, finance, economics, and ecological justice experts.

Global church leaders to attend school on economic justice in Kenya

The World Council of Churches (WCC) will host, for the next ten days, the Ecumenical School on Governance, Economics, and Management for an Economy of Life (GEM School) from 19-28 August, in Limuru, Kenya. The event will bring together 20 current and future church leaders worldwide to deepen their understanding of global economic systems and empower them to advocate for transformative change.

NIFEA Communiqué

We, the members of communities including social thinkers, clergy, theologians, activists, and community leaders representing social organizations, ecumenical institutions, and religious traditions, gathered under the aegis of the New International Financial Economic Architecture (NIFEA). We met at a time when leaders of the G20 were also gathering to deliberate on the future of this planet.

Choose the power of love: Pre-Assemblies deliver powerful calls

Karlsruhe, a city built over 300 hundred years ago without walls, open to friends and guests —at a time where other cities still hid behind their fortifications —welcomed people from all over the world to four pre-assemblies that are bringing forward powerful calls to the 11th Assembly of the World Council of Churches (WCC).

Dra. Ofelia Ortega: “La visión del profeta Ezequiel se hizo realidad”

El 12 de octubre, la Dra. Ofelia Ortega fue nombrada “Hija ilustre” de la ciudad de Matanzas (Cuba). La Dra. Ortega, expresidenta del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) para América Latina y el Caribe, también fue profesora del Instituto Ecuménico de Bossey, además de miembro del personal del CMI responsable de la región de América Latina y el Caribe en el Programa de Educación Teológica. 

Dr Ofelia Ortega: “The vision of prophet Ezequiel became true”

On 12 October, Dr Ofelia Ortega received a “Illustrious Daughter of the City” award from Matanzas, Cuba. Ortega, former World Council of Churches (WCC) president for Latin America and the Caribbean, also served as a Bossey Ecumenical Institute professor as well as the WCC staff person responsible for Latin America and the Caribbean in the Programme on Theological Education.
