Black Awareness Day in Brazil is observed annually on 20 November. It is a day to reflect on the contributions, culture, and history of Afro-Brazilians and to address the ongoing fight against racial inequality in Brazil.

World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay extended deep sympathy for the people and churches of Southern Brazil as they endure catastrophic flooding, loss of life, and widespread destruction of homes, roads, and bridges.

In the wake of severe flooding in the Taquari Valley, Brazil, World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay expressed sorrow and concern for the people affected.
