Amid rising global inequality and escalating climate crises, the Ecumenical School on Governance, Economics, and Management for an Economy of Life (GEM School) will convene from 18-29 August 2025 in Seoul, South Korea.

In a report to the World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee, WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay reflected that, particularly during the past several months, his focus has been to lift the profile of the WCC. “I believe that this is being achieved in major proportions,” he said. “I am also grateful that many of the invitations that come my way are also graciously funded by the inviters and this certainly helps our budget constraints, especially when the requests for the general secretary’s presence are so numerous.”

On 16 October, during World Food Day, the World Council of Churches (WCC) will host an international webinar to address the worsening global food crisis. Featuring voices from the United Nations, civil society, academia, and faith communities, the event will examine the systemic causes of hunger and explore ways to empower women and children, the most vulnerable to food insecurity.

The Felm visited the World Council of Churches, strengthening collaboration and dialoguing about church cooperation, development, peace and reconciliation, and humanitarian aid. The Felm works with local Lutheran churches and non-governmental organizations in 24 countries around the world, aiming to promote human dignity and justice.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Diakonia Reference Group event began on 30 September in Yerevan, Armenia, focusing on transformative action to address some of the world’s most pressing issues. Opening the gathering, Rev. Dr Kenneth Mtata, WCC programme director for Public Witness and Diakonia, urged churches to tackle the systemic roots of global challenges, such as climate change, violent conflict, and inequality.
