The World Council of Churches (WCC) joined diplomats, faith-based organizations, and leading experts at a roundtable discussion celebrating Geneva’s legacy in global environmental governance. Organized as part of the Geneva Environment Network's 25^th-anniversary series of events, the discussion focused on the vital role of faith-based organizations in tackling the triple planetary climate change crisis, biodiversity loss, and pollution.

The Ecumenical Diakonia Reference Group, established by the World Council of Churches (WCC), held its inaugural meeting in Yerevan, Armenia, from 30 September to 2 October. The group, cochaired by Rev. Pauliina Parhiala (Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission) and Rebecca Teiko Sabah (Presbyterian Church of Ghana), focused on topics such as climate justice, decolonization, and diaconal collaboration. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Diakonia Reference Group event began on 30 September in Yerevan, Armenia, focusing on transformative action to address some of the world’s most pressing issues. Opening the gathering, Rev. Dr Kenneth Mtata, WCC programme director for Public Witness and Diakonia, urged churches to tackle the systemic roots of global challenges, such as climate change, violent conflict, and inequality.

The general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, accompanied by Rev. Dr Kenneth Mtata, WCC program director for Public Witness and Diakonia, the general secretary of the National Council of Churches in Korea (NCCK), Rev. Kim, Jong Seng and other leaders from the NCCK met with South Korean prime minister Han Duck-soo. 

From 30 September to 2 October, the World Council of Churches (WCC) will convene the inaugural meeting of the Ecumenical Diakonia Reference Group in Yerevan, Armenia. The meeting will provide WCC partners and member churches with a platform to explore new approaches to diaconal work, address urgent global challenges, and foster stronger partnerships.

As the Lutheran World Federation Council held its inaugural meeting, World Council of Churches (WCC) Rev. Dr Kenneth Mtata, WCC programme director for Public Witness and Diakonia, read a greeting on behalf of WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) and Christian Conference of Asia hosted a regional training program, “Ecumenical Diakonia and Sustainable Development,” in Medan, Indonesia, from 29 April to 2 May.

The World Council of Churches led a delegation on a visit to Sudan from 18-22 April. The ecumenical group included the World Council of Churches (WCC), All Africa Conference of Churches, ACT Alliance, Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa Global Ministries, Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa, General Board Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, and Norwegian Church Aid. 

A workshop at the World Council of Churches (WCC) has highlighted the right to health and dignified access to it, as well as the faith sector's engagement with migrants and refugees for health and HIV services in fighting stigma and discrimination.
