As people of faith representing diverse traditions, united in our common belief in the sanctity of life and the pursuit of justice, peace, and human dignity, we commend the States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) for your historic commitment and leadership in working toward a world without nuclear weapons. Each signature and ratification affirming this Treaty is an act of courage and beacon of hope, and we applaud you.

WCC sends greetings to Moster Jubilee in Norway celebrating milestone for Christianity

World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay sent greetings to the gathering for the Moster 2024 Jubilee in Norway on 1 June. “I offer a special greeting to Presiding Bishop Olav Fykse Tveit, our former WCC general secretary,” said Pillay. “Moster 2024 celebrates the advent of law in Norway, brought in the name of Christianity through King Olav II’s assembly of bishops in Moster a thousand years ago.”

At diakonia conference in Norway, world’s pressing challenges and gratitude share the stage

World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay served as a keynote speaker at the Ninth Conference for Research in Diakonia and Christian Social Practice, hosted by the International Society for the Research and Study of Diakonia and Christian Social Practice and VID Specialized University. The theme of the conference was “Contested Spaces of Diaconia – Seeking Justice, Safety and Well-Being.”
