A webinar on 25 May, “Exploring the nexus between racism, xenophobia and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and African Union (AU) free movement protocol,” marked Africa Day by focusing on the potential of faith communities, especially Christians, in bridging the gaps that continue to frustrate the free movement of people and goods around the continent.

An online meeting planned for 25 May, titled “Exploring the nexus between racism, xenophobia and the AfCTA, and AU free movement protocol,” will mark Africa Day.

Wenn die Weltimpfwoche am 24. April beginnt, werden neun Kirchenleitende von den verschiedenen Kontinenten aktiv ihre Rolle als so genannte „Vaccination Champions“ einnehmen. Der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK) trauert um die verstorbene Pastorin Prof. Dr. Mary-Anne Plaatjies van Huffel, eine südafrikanische Pastorin und Akademikerin, die seit 2013 als ÖRK-Präsidentin für Afrika im Dienst stand. Sie starb am 19. Mai.

Les partenaires œcuméniques d’Afrique rassemblés par la Conférence des Églises de toute l’Afrique, le Réseau œcuménique de défense des personnes handicapées du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE), les Initiatives et plaidoyer œcuméniques pour la lutte contre le VIH et le sida du COE, Christian Aid et Side by Side, se sont retrouvés à Nairobi à l’occasion de la Journée mondiale de prière 2020 pour célébrer les réalisations des femmes africaines et pour prendre acte du fait que les hommes sont des alliés. Les personnes rassemblées ont également célébré la Journée internationale des femmes dont le thème était #EachforEqual (Chacun-e pour l’égalité).

Working as a medical doctor in his home country Malawi seems to have given Dr Mwai Makoka ideal experience for his task of programme executive for Health and Healing at the WCC. He has experience in medical microbiology, HIV and AIDS, working for both government and church-based institutions after graduating as a doctor in Malawi, a country accustomed to working with church-run hospitals.

Il est temps que cela change, affirment les fondatrices d’un réseau de théologiennes panafricaines – laïques et ordonnées – au sein du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE).
