The World Council of Churches calls on all parties to respect UN peacekeepers mandate and to commit to diplomacy and dialogue. Peace cannot be achieved through violence, but only through genuine negotiations and a commitment to justice and reconciliation.

Church leaders ask for immediate ceasefire in Lebanon

An online meeting was convened on 4 October by the World Council of Churches (WCC) to express solidarity and support, and to provide a safe and constructive space for sharing, reflection, and discussion on the critical challenges currently facing Lebanon. The visit served as an opportunity to accompany member churches and ecumenical partners, listen to their voices and perspectives, amplify their calls, and remind the world of what is needed to bring about peace in the region.

Ecumenical delegation meets Higher Presidential Committee of Churches in Palestine

Held online on 8 August as part of a pastoral solidarity visit to the Holy Land, an ecumenical delegation met with the Higher Presidential Committee of Churches in Palestine. The session focussed on the current political situation, the need for an end to the ongoing war and seemingly escalating conflict, so that the region may shift into building peace long-term.
