As Montet Focolare Centre closes, WCC connection with Focolare remains

As the Focolare Centre in Montet closed on 8 June, World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay expressed gratitude for 43 years of collaboration with the centre, as well as the ongoing connection with the Focolare movement that will remain an inspiration moving forward. 

Bishop Mikael Mogren shares world perspective—and deep local ties—from visit to Armenia

Rt. Rev. Dr Bishop Mikael Mogren, from the Diocese of Västerås in the Church of Sweden (Lutheran), recently returned from a trip to Armenia, where he met with H.H. Catholicos Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, as well as local church leaders and nongovernmental organizations. He took time to reflect on what has stayed on his mind and in his heart as he returned to Sweden. 

New WCC appointments reflect strong global fellowship

The World Council of Churches (WCC) has made new staff appointments during 2024, including three new commission directors. WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay warmly greeted them as they began to serve in their particular ministries.

WCC hosts visitors from Finland, Germany, and Sweden

The World Council of Churches (WCC) hosted Bishop Dr Jukka Keskitalo and Rev. Pekka Mustakallio from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, to discuss the ecumenical agenda of 2023 and the harvesting of the WCC 11 th assembly, as well a group from the Centre for Ecumenism of the Protestant Church in Hesse and Nassau, and 21 ordinands from the Church of Sweden.
