Two conferences in May—the first in Antalya, Türkiye, and the second in Bucharest, Romania, brought forth the great relevance of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea to contemporary theology. 

Oriental Orthodox Churches in the Middle East held an official celebration marking the 17th Centennial Jubilee (1700 years) of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea.

From 14-17 May, an international symposium on Nicaea is taking place in Bucharest, organized by the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Faculty of Orthodox Theology "Justinian the Patriarch” University of Bucharest.

In the lead-up to the World Council of Churches (WCC) 6th World Conference on Faith and Order, the Faith and Order Commission—together with the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Lutheran World Federation—will host a webinar titled “Bridging East and West: A Joint Statement on Filioque” on 28 April.

A "Faith and Order Update," presenting some of the main areas of the work of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Commission on Faith and Order, has been published as the WCC looks towards the  Sixth World Conference on Faith and Order later in 2025, and in the year that marks the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea.
