Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is our refuge, our strength, and our ever-present help in times of trouble.
I write to you with deep love and solidarity as you face a time of profound uncertainty and upheaval. We recognize that the road ahead is fraught with challenges, as political instability, societal divisions, and economic hardship weigh heavily on your nation. Yet, even in this time of trial, we draw hope from the steadfast witness of your faith and the abiding presence of Christ among you.
The global fellowship of churches stands in fervent prayer with you during these turbulent times. We intercede for the leaders of your nation to pursue justice, reconciliation, and peace. We pray for the displaced and the vulnerable, for those mourning the loss of loved ones, and for those laboring to rebuild communities and foster hope.
We also encourage you, dear sisters and brothers, to remain united as Christians. Your witness of unity amidst diversity and your commitment to reconciliation can serve as a powerful sign of God’s kingdom to a nation in need of healing.
The WCC remains committed to advocating for peace and justice in Syria. We will continue to call on the global community to prioritize humanitarian aid, protect human rights, and support efforts to establish a fair and inclusive future for all Syrians, regardless of ethnicity or faith. Your pain is shared by the global Church, and your voice will not go unheard.
In this uncertain time, we encourage you to continue living out your faith with courage and hope. As the guardians of a rich spiritual heritage, you have the profound calling to bear witness to Christ’s love, even amid political and social instability.
The current liturgical period of advent assures us that even in darkness, the light of Christ is coming. In this season, we recall the angel’s proclamation: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests” (Luke 2:14). The light of Christ shines as unwavering hope, reminding you that God is with you, Emmanuel, and His promises of renewal and restoration are sure.
Beloved in Christ, know that you are not alone. Churches around the globe walk alongside you in prayer, solidarity, and love. As the psalmist declares, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1). May these words strengthen you in the days to come.
May the Holy Spirit fill you with wisdom and courage, guiding your steps as you seek to be agents of healing, reconciliation and peace in your land. May Christ, the Prince of Peace, sustain you with His unending grace, and may God’s love enfold you always.
