Dear sisters and brothers,

In Christ’s love, which moves the world to reconciliation and unity, , I send sincere greetings to  the Evangelical Church of Rio de la Plata. I am addressing you from the the headquarters of the World Council of Churches, where we are resuming our activities in order to implement the decisions of the WCC assembly held in Karlshue, Germany, a few days ago.

I deeply thank you for the kind invitation to attend your Synod Conference and your General Assembly. Unfortunately, the two events will happen at the same dates of our Staff Planning Days during which, we will give programmatic content to the decisions of the Assembly.

The motto of your  General Assembly  is very timely.  In the midst of wars and pandemics, economic crisis and loss of compassion and mercy, we have to look upon to our Heavenly Father and towards the sides, to our sisters and brothers , in search for  a constant rebirth of a living hope.

Our hope is not empty, it is based on God and that is why this hope will not disappoint us.  We know what is  said in 1 Peter 1:3-4, we can praise God for the living hope God gave us through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, which is our inheritance that does not perish, spoil or fade. The Evangelical Church of Rio de la Plata is an example of that constant rebirth of living hope, with grace from God and grace for the surrounding communities.

We pray the Assembly will have many good moments of sharing the love of our God and the blessings of the fellowship, allowing the best decisions when choosing the leadership, thinking about the best strategies to respond to the challenges that the Evangelical Church of Rio de la Plata particularly faces in today’s  Argentina.

I extend my deep gratitude to the church and to the servants who were in leadership positions until present date. We are working in the fields of the Lord and he has all our labours in account.

Yours, in Christ

Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca
