Prologue:
Usually the Seven Weeks for Water reflection around the International Women’s Day emphasises the gender perspective of water. We would like to honour the legacy the late Dr Agnes Abuom, former moderator of the World Council of Churches central committee, and her commitment to water justice by republishing her reflection that was published in 2017 Lenten campaign which is still valid today. Her country Kenya is still witnessing a water crisis—its worst in over 40 years. She was a strong proponent of water justice. The WCC Ecumenical Water Network pays tribute to Dr Agnes, who departed for her heavenly abode on 31 May 2023.
