You are invited: An evening of testimony from Christians in the Holy Land

As the Holy Land goes through one of the darkest periods in its history, the local Christian community feels abandoned by the international community. Faced with widespread destruction and forced displacement, the local churches are issuing an appeal: to see reality as it is experienced, beyond diplomatic and media filters.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Geneva Assembly of Churches are organising a unique evening of testimonies in Geneva to provide a direct platform for those on the ground who are holding fast to hope and building peace in their daily lives.

Three key speakers will address the gathering:

• Yusef Daher, coordinator of the WCC Liaison Office in Jerusalem

• Iskandar Majlaton, local coordinator of the WCC Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (international presence in Palestine and Israel)

• H.E. Amira Hanania, member of the Presidential High Committee for Ecclesiastical Affairs (Palestine).

When: Thursday 1 October 2026, from 6:30 pm to 8:15 pm. Followed by a buffet.

Where: Salle Trocmé, Rue du Jura 2, 1201 Geneva.

An opportunity for discussion between the speakers and journalists may be arranged once the event has concluded at 8:15 pm.
