As part of a preparatory series for the upcoming WCC Faith and Order World Conference—themed Where Now for Visible Unity?”—the third webinar of the series brings together theologians and church leaders from across traditions to discuss one of the most ambitious Anglican documents on unity in recent decades: The Nairobi-Cairo Proposals: Renewing the Instruments of the Anglican Communion.”

Produced by the Inter-Anglican Standing Commission on Unity, Faith, and Order, the proposals suggest structural and theological reforms to strengthen Anglican unity and offer contributions to the wider ecumenical movement.

The event will be introduced by Fr Dr Vasile-Octavian Mihoc (WCC) and moderated by Dr Christopher Wells (Anglican Communion). Key presentations will be given by Anglican contributors:

  • Rt Rev. Dr Graham Tomlin, chair of the Inter-Anglican Standing Commission on Unity, Faith, and Order; and director of the Centre for Cultural Witness
  • Most Rev. Samy F. Shehata, archbishop of the Anglican Province of Alexandria
  • Rev. Dr Katherine Sonderegger, professor of Systematic Theology, Virginia Theological Seminary

Their reflections will be followed by ecumenical responses from:

  • H.E. Metropolitan Dr Mor Theophilose Kuriakose, Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church
  • Dr Johannes Oeldemann, Roman Catholic theologian and ecumenist
  • Rev. Dr Nadia Marais, Reformed theologian and lecturer, Stellenbosch University

This webinar offers an opportunity to witness inter-church engagement around a significant ecumenical text, enriching both Anglican self-understanding and broader Christian dialogue.
