The associated events are a mayor’s reception on 24 March, as well as, on 25 March, a welcome reception at the Beaney Museum, and a celebration dinner at the Nikaean Club, the archbishop’s ecumenical dining club, at Rutherford College, University of Kent.
Mullally is the first woman to be appointed Archbishop of Canterbury.
In a letter of congratulations sent upon news of Mullally’s appointment, Pillay wrote: “It is with joy and hope that we witness this moment in the life of the Church of England, as we give thanks and celebrate your nomination to this position of sacred responsibility. You take up this great responsibility at a challenging time.”
Pillay added: “May God grant you wisdom, courage, humility, and patience for the times ahead.”
