“As you gather in Toraja, we are united in spirit, uplifted by the wisdom found in scripture, and encouraged by the vision you have set for this transformative gathering,” he wrote.
The theme for the gathering, which will be held 8-13 November, is “Living as a Light Bearing Goodness, Justice, and Truth.”
“In an age of increasing division and conflict, your commitment to unity, peace, and justice shines as a beacon of hope,” wrote Pillay. “We celebrate your desire to engage in meaningful dialogue that addresses the unique diversity of Indonesia.”
He commended the Communion of Churches in Indonesia for bringing together leaders, clergy, and youth representatives to inspire one another and seek a shared vision for the future.
“As you move through these significant days of reflection, may you be strengthened by the Holy Spirit and reminded that our unity in Christ is a powerful witness to the world,” concluded Pillay. “Please know that the global fellowship of the WCC stands with you, praying that God’s wisdom and peace will guide every aspect of this assembly.”
