We wish you a Ramadan marked by prayer, peace, and the spirit of compassion,” he said. In the rhythm of fasting and reflection, may hearts be renewed, intentions purified, and generosity flow toward those in need, those who suffer, and those who long for justice and peace.”

Pillay reflected that Ramadan is a journey of tawba, a sincere return to the Merciful, through repentance, purification of intention, and renewed commitment to justice and compassion.

Christians, who are also entering the season of Lent, know the meaning of fasting as a time of preparation, repentance, and renewed communion with God and neighbour,” Pillay wrote. May this Ramadan be a time of self-restraint, solidarity, and mercy, as families, communities, and friends gather around the iftar table in gratitude, remembering the hungry and turning their hearts toward the One, the Merciful, the source of life and hope.
