“I also warmly congratulate the two vice-presidents, Rev. Luis Henrique Sievers and Rev. Iraci Wutke, elected to serve alongside you,” Pillay wrote. “As churches and as the worldwide Christian family, we are called to walk together, listening to one another, learning from one another and discerning together where the Spirit is leading us.”
In a world marked by uncertainty, division, and suffering, Pillay noted, the witness of a church committed to communion, justice, and peace is more important than ever.
“We are particularly grateful and joyful that you, Rev. Dr Mauro de Souza, are a member of the central committee of the World Council of Churches,” wrote Pillay. “Your presence and active participation have already enriched the ecumenical movement.”
Pillay thanked Souza for thoughtful contributions, a commitment to dialogue, and witness to the calling of Christians to seek greater unity in Christ.
“We look forward to continuing our journey together and to your support for the ministry and witness of the World Council of Churches,” Pillay wrote.
