“On behalf of the World Council of Churches, I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to grieving families and express solidarity with communities affected by this calamity – many of them already struggling with day-to-day living due to the intertwined health and economic crises,” said Sauca. “At the same time, I am very encouraged and inspired to learn that churches in the Philippines are already at the forefront of the humanitarian response, by providing water, food, and building materials to families whose houses were destroyed.”
Sauca thanked churches for their witness and deep care.
“I pray to the Almighty God to bestow mercy upon on all those who are suffering and blessings upon your churches’ commendable efforts and initiatives to assist those in need,” he said.
