“Your experience within the Evangelical Church in Germany has undoubtedly prepared you for this significant role within the Conference of European Churches, an organization committed to fostering dialogue, understanding, and cooperation among churches across Europe,” said Pillay. “This ongoing commitment will undoubtedly strengthen the ecumenical movement and contribute to the advancement of justice, peace, and reconciliation.”

Pillay also extended prayers that the Conference of European Churches continue to be a beacon of hope and a catalyst for positive change in a diverse and dynamic context.

“The WCC has always regarded regional ecumenical organizations as essential partners in the ecumenical enterprise,” said Pillay. “As a global fellowship of churches committed to seeking visible unity and common witness, the WCC stands ready to collaborate with you in our shared pursuit of Christian unity and the common good.”

The WCC looks forward to deepening its partnership with the Conference of European Churches, concluded Pillay. “May you be blessed with wisdom, strength, and grace as you embark on this new chapter of leadership,” concluded Pillay.
