“We celebrate with you!” wrote Pillay. “For two and a half centuries, devoted and dedicated servants of the Lord have brought the distinctive charisms and commitments of the Methodist movement to the Caribbean.”
Pillay commended Methodist Christians’ deep commitment to personal holiness, scriptural devotion, and love and service to neighbors.
“Even in the face of slavery, colonial oppression, revolutions, and natural disasters,
Methodists and their churches have championed personal dignity, the possibility of
transformational change, and hope for justice in the world,” Pillay wrote. “Christian advocacy for human rights and dignity and Christian service for human welfare have never been more needed.”
