“With this 2024 annual review, we present a view along the way: a glimpse of the pilgrimage in progress—a pilgrimage that brings active hope even amid global trends that have brought incalculable human suffering,” writes WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay in the foreword. “We hope these pages will show the ways in which Christians and Christian churches are living their ecumenical fellowship today—the ways in which we unite our worldwide fellowship of churches not only around our shared Christian faith, which remains our vital centre, but also in the specific interests of justice, love, peace, and hope.”
The annual review portrays the ways in which the WCC, in 2024, bolstered Christianity’s relevance and offered a message to the world directed to God, spirituality, and humanity.
“The cry for freedom and justice is loud for many in the world today,” writes Pillay. “We are surrounded by the need for economic, gender, and climate justice.”
