The conference is sixth in a series of international, inter-confessional conferences on the issue "Church care for mental well-being.” The conferences have been convened since 2018.

This edition focuses on developing dialogue between mental health care and the church, cooperation between Christian churches in their involvement in service to people with mental conditions, sharing a theological understanding of various phenomena related to this field, and practical tools and recommendations for clergy and doctors.

Kurian delivered an online presentation on The Role of Prayer in Mental Health.” He elaborated with scientific evidence, and pastoral and biblical examples, the impact of the components of prayer on mental wellbeing.

Kurian said: “Prayer is a core practice central to all faiths, and plays a vital role in promoting mental wellbeing and health globally. There is compelling evidence to show this positive impact. To strengthen the role of faith communities in mental wellbeing, we must work alongside mental health professionals and invest in the faith communities to become more informed and committed to promoting mental wellbeing. Let us foster supportive, safe spaces in our congregations and strive to maintain confidentiality and respect. May we constantly battle against misinformation, obscurantism, stigma, and discrimination.”
