To be offered on 27 November at two different times, the training will afford participants – lay and clergy – the opportunity to address social justice issues, support marginalized communities, and inspire positive change within their congregations and beyond.
Organized by the World Council of Churches Just Community of Women and Men, the three-hour session will provide an introduction to advocacy as well as address advocacy for specific issues: people with disabilities, climate, eco-justice, and conflict. Three parallel breakout sessions will look at worship preparation, Bible study, and preaching.
Facilitators will include experienced ecumenical trainers in advocacy, including theologians, clergy, and social justice activists.
Participants will have access to an online community for continued support and resource sharing. Follow-up webinars and workshops will be offered to deepen the training and provide additional learning opportunities.
