This service, usually held at the start of each year and including the blessing of the staff and offices at the Ecumenical Centre, was led by Fr Dr Vasile-Octavian Mihoc, Romanian Orthodox priest and World Council of Churches (WCC) programme executive for Ecumenical Relations and Faith and Order.

Mihoc highlighted to all the truth that as we celebrate this Great Blessing, we are invited to remember our own baptism and to renew our commitment to Christ. May the Spirit who descended upon the Jordan descend upon our lives and may the voice of the Father remind us that we, too, are called beloved.”

Rev. Dr Mikie Roberts, WCC programme executive for Spiritual Life, underscored the importance of this annual service of the Blessing of the Waters and the offices in that it serves as a timely reminder that all of our ecumenical work is grounded and rooted in Gods call to serve and not to be served.”
