Donning Thursdays in Black” shirts, the runners combined a statement about justice with physical movement. Thursdays in Black is a global campaign for a world free from rape and violence. 

Alfred Mbai said that running together for Thursdays in Black at a time when femicide is on the rise in many parts of the world helped amplify the voice of the voiceless. 

We run for women whove been silenced and for girls who deserve a future free of fear,” he said. We walk and run for a world where equality thrives, acknowledging that every step we take moves us closer to ending gender-based violence.”

This marked the first year that Bossey students participated in the race.

Joining the race with WCC staff was an amazing experience for us Bossey students,” said Melina Glass. The energy of the city was contagious and we had a lot of fun running together. It was a great chance to connect, be part of the event, and promote Thursdays in Black.”
