Dialogues also addressed theological reflection and accompaniment, gender justice, human rights, discipleship, diakonia, and public witness. The meetings also explored conversations on faith, gender‑based violence and theological narratives shaping masculinity, accountability, and pastoral care.

“We are grateful for the annual meetings with the Rainbow Pilgrims of Faith so that we can continue our meaningful dialogue and sharing of information,” said WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay.

The WCC central committee, in 2023, requested that the WCC general secretary provide safe spaces for ecumenical learning and conversations on potentially contested topics, including human sexuality, with member churches and ecumenical partners.

Pillay added that he values the opportunity for continuing and deepening the dialogue with the Rainbow Pilgrims. “It is important to listen to the views and experiences of people even when they may be considered to be potentially controversial and divisive ,” he said.
