This year’s theme, “Re-Building Bridges: The Role of Religious Communities During a Time of Crisis in Multilateralism,” emphasizes the urgent need for faith communities to lead in healing divides and restoring international cooperation in an increasingly fragmented world.
Held June 10–12, Impact Week events took place at the St Nicholas National Shrine and the Church Center for the United Nations, strategically located adjacent to the UN headquarters.
This three-day programme brought together religious leaders, UN officials, nonprofit experts, and human rights advocates to examine critical global and domestic challenges. Themes included humanitarian aid, peacebuilding, genocide prevention, religious nationalism, refugee assistance, environmental justice, and religious freedom.
Keynote and featured speakers included:
- H.E. Miguel Ángel Moratinos, UN high representative for the Alliance of Civilizations
- Mr Peter Prove, WCC Director of the Commission of the Churches on International Affairs
- Rabbi David Saperstein, Union for Reform Judaism
- Justin Hansford, UN Permanent Forum on People of African Descent
Participating partners included the World Council of Churches, Church World Service, Episcopal Church, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, United Methodist Church, and others.
In addition to plenaries and panels, attendees participated in prayer services, concerts, and networking receptions, building relationships and collaborative strategies for advocacy and action.
