Modeled after TED Talks”—popular videos that explain ideas in an accessible way—“JUST Talk” will feature three different leaders with perspectives on the 12 critical areas flagged in the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action aimed at ensuring greater equality and opportunities for women and men, girls and boys.

The seminar, entitled Critical Engagement: The Beijing Declaration's Critical Areas for Church Women Today,” will launch a series of discussions and engagement on the gender dimension and intersectionality of many of the acute issues we face today.

Participants will come away with actions and advocacy needed to be incorporated in individual and ecumenical efforts.

Hosted by the World Council of Churches Just Community of Women and Men, the seminar will invite people to be part of an ecumenical network of global actors for gender justice.

Speakers will focus on violence against women and girls, and women and environment:      

Rev Bafana Khumalo, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Sonke Gender Justice in South Africa and one of the organisation’s co-founders. 

Ms Alicia Mondesire, author and gender-consultant, was one of the leading Caribbean representatives to the 1995 4th World Conference on Women, held in Beijing.
