The meeting will help members of the group get to know each other, and learn about the history of the Joint Consultative Group, which was created following a decision of the WCC 8th Assembly in Harare 1998, in order to search for better ways of understanding one another, to look for new opportunities for mutual learning and action, and to share experiences of Christian witness.

Those convening this week at Bossey are also discussing strategic priorities of the parent bodies, and reflecting on the groups work and its methodologies for 2024-2030.

Bible studies are also on the agenda, as are the sharing of personal faith journeys and ecclesial stories. Opportunities to meet and share with Bossey students will occur each day as well.

Many of the churches that have not traditionally been involved with the ecumenical movement or the World Council of Churches are related to the Pentecostal or evangelical traditions or counted among African-instituted churches and other independent churches. These churches share specific theological emphases and understandings of scripture, along with their vitality and rapid growth.
