Designed to offer reliable knowledge and information on theological, ecclesiastical, and spiritual issues, “LOGOS” represents a step forward in the creative engagement of faith communities with emerging technologies.

The application was created in collaboration with the HERON ICT Laboratory, within the framework of a partnership between the church and the research community in Greece. The academic supervision and responsibility for the project belong to Dr. Athanasios Davalas, Academic Director of Artificial Intelligence programs at the University of the Aegean. Through this collaboration, a specialized algorithm was developed that combines technological innovation with the depth, language, and hermeneutical nuances of the Orthodox theological tradition.

The algorithm has been carefully designed to recognize, process, and convey the content of Orthodox ecclesiastical thought, offering users information within the framework of Orthodox Christian teaching. “LOGOS” enables users to engage with the teachings of the Church - its purpose is to inspire study, strengthen knowledge and connect people with the living witness of the Christian faith.

This initiative also resonates with the recent conversations of His Eminence Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia with the WCC on democracy, participation, and Christianity — underscoring his commitment to fostering dialogue between contemporary challenges and the enduring global witness of the Church.

“Through LOGOS, our Metropolis continues to contribute to international conversations on how Christian communities might navigate the opportunities and risks of AI with spiritual integrity, ethical responsibility, and pastoral sensitivity” he said.

The WCC has been consistently engaged in examining the ethical, social, and spiritual dimensions of artificial intelligence, recognizing its growing influence on human life and faith communities.

Designed primarily for Greek-speaking Orthodox Christians, “LOGOS” is available via the Chat GPT platform.
