The World Council of Churches, together with the Anglican Communion, Lutheran World Federation, World Communion of Reformed Churches, World Methodist Council, and Middle East Council of Churches, is organizing an ecumenical conference that will continue the historic conversation begun in March 2024 about establishing "Creation Day" (1 September) as a liturgical feast/festival in Western denominations. 

The 25-person Executive Committee is the WCC governing body, with members from churches in every region. It meets twice a year to monitor ongoing work, supervise the budget and deal with policy matters referred to it by the Central Committee.

A conference from 17-21 May in Berlin will invite global ecumenists to intentionally engage the outcomes of the Berlin conference in 1884-85, develop a response to the historic and continuing legacies of colonization, and collectively re-envision a de-colonial Africa in a concrete “Anti-Racist Ecumenical Action Plan for Decolonization and Reparations.”

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, held worldwide on 18-25 January (Northern hemisphere) and 21-28 May (Southern hemisphere), will draw together churches across the globe under the theme “Do you believe this?” (John 11:26).

Armenian Heritage Conference, hosted by World Council of Churches in collaboration with Protestant Church in Switzerland, will take place in Bern, Switzerland on 27 – 28 May 2025.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) invites young people from across the globe to apply for the 2025 Stewards Programme, scheduled to take place from 14-26 June 2025. This exciting programme offers a unique opportunity for youth ages 18-30 to engage with the global ecumenical movement and actively contribute to the work of the WCC. The deadline for applications is 30 November 2024.

The Central Committee serves as the chief governing body of the WCC until the next assembly, meeting every 2 years. It is responsible for carrying out the policies adopted by the Assembly, reviewing and supervising WCC programmes and the budget of the Council.

Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Interreligious Studies is a course of a three-week distance learning component and a three-week intensive residential period of study, research and community life, during summer months of June-August and results in 10 ECTS credits (ECTS-European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System, established 1988 by the European Commission). 

The World Council of Churches (WCC), along with global ecumenical partners, invites applications for the Ecumenical School on Governance, Economics, and Management for an Economy of Life (GEM School), which will be held from 18-29 August 2025 in Seoul, South Korea (venue to be confirmed).

The Global Ecumenical Theological Institute 2025 (GETI), at the WCC Commission on Faith and Order’s World Conference in Egypt, is the fourth in a series of such global study programmes.
