This webinar series organised by the WCC's Theological Study Group of the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace will have 5 sessions, from 19 - 23 October 2020.

The series is a follow-up to the WCC Tokyo theological forum in 2019 that identified global manifestations of racism and its complexity in the current day. Since then, to further the work of  overcoming racism, two overarching themes have been identified as key areas for ongoing theological reflection: hate speech and whiteness.

In this webinar series, members of the WCC's Theological Study Group of the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace and participants of the Tokyo theological forum will present papers on these two streams of racism. Given the experience of the COVID-19 pandemic, theological consideration will also be given to how racism is manifesting itself in these contexts, e.g. how certain groups (such as indigenous peoples, blacks, other ethnic minorities, migrants, etc.) are targeted and their situations exacerbated by COVID-19 and structural racism.
