Dear Haitian Brothers and Sisters,

We greet you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!

We are conscious that your life today is not the same as it was before. We know that there is hatred, violence, and suffering in the land, which lasts since too long. Adults as well as children are filled with fear caused by civil war that is destroying everywhere. Those of us who are on the outside are sad because of what is happening everywhere to “Darling Haiti”.

Although we might be physically distant, we are close to you in heart, in the spiritual sense. We all are children of God. We belong to one family, as Jesus Christ himself said.

We hope that before long, love, joy, peace, and justice may abound.

We encourage all leaders of the Caribbean and those who head nations across the world, to respect the ones who will emerge as true leaders among you, including those approved by the Church. We urge you to exercise patience and hope in our God who will know how to inspire all those engaged to bring peace. When we hurriedly arrive at solutions, the results can be faulty. Keep the faith!

“Trust in the LORD and do good; so you will dwell in the land and enjoy security. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart”. (Psalm 37: 3 – 4)

We believe that God wants Haiti to become a country wherein the kingdom of God finds first place in life. Let us try to live as God wants us, where love, peace, and justice abound everywhere.

May we together be creatively used by God so that there will be lasting peace in Haiti!

Yours in God’s service,

Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay
